If dad loves outdoor recreation, there isn’t any place better than San Diego to spend Father’s Day. With everything from fishing to boat rides, San Diego is rich in outdoor activities that are perfect for Father’s Day.
A Day at the Beach
With over 50 area beaches that can be enjoyed for free, how can you go wrong. Pack a cooler and some lounge chairs for a day on the sand. If you are looking to get a family friendly game of volleyball going, head to Moonlight Beach or Mission Beach. Ocean Beach, La Jolla Shores, and Tourmaline Surfing Park Beach all have fire pits for some post dinner s’mores.
If dad is a thrill seeker, this Patriot Jet Boat Ride could be just the ticket. Treat him to a 30-minute open-air jet boat ride across the San Diego Bay. The captain will perform spins, tricks, and turns for a thrilling ride. Military discounts are available through Flagship Cruises and Events. Tickets can also be purchased on base at a discounted rate.
A day spend casting and reeling in the California sunshine is a relaxing way to spend dad’s special day. San Diego has 7 fishing piers for all day fun. Most of the piers have pole and bait rentals on site. For a complete list of locations and their amenities, check out their website here.
You can set off to explore San Diego on Father’s Day with a bike, kayak, or snorkeling tour. Bike & Kayak Tours offers a military discount of 15% off all tours and rentals. Paddle, cycle, or snorkel your way to Father’s Day fun.
