Forget the Beach. Head to Mission Trail Regional Park.
May 10, 2013
Sometimes you have to forget the beach, and hit up the mountains! San Diego may be known for its ocean-friendly activities, but why not opt for an inland excursion instead? Mission Trails Regional Park has more than 40 miles of trails for everyone from beginners to experts. You can start out modestly with a reasonable 1.7-mile Oak Canyon Trail that begins in the Old Mission Dam parking lot. Not into hiking? No problem; they host non-hiking events from time to time:
- Explore Mission Trails Day – Saturday, May 18. The 11th annual Explore Mission Trails Day, a celebration highlighting everything Mission Trails has for you and your family, will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013. Most activities will be between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Visitor and Interpretive Center and the Equestrian Staging Area.
- Free Concert at Mission Trails – Sunday, May 19, 3 p.m. From contemporary swing to Latin jazz, this concert celebrates the Great American Songbook. Lillian Palmer‘s “Great American Songbook” Concert at MTRP is sure to not disappoint. She’ll be accompanied by Danny Green on keyboard, bassist Rob Thorsen and percussionist Dave Dhillon.
So, what do you think–heading inland in the next few weeks?
