Life of Leisure: National Park Week–April 20 – April 28
April 17, 2013
Way back in the 16th century an explorer by the name of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo stepped onto the coast of California becoming the first European to do so. He landed and took to foot at San Diego Bay, which now houses the Cabrillo National Monument (1800 Cabrillo Memorial Dr.) commemorating the event.
If you haven’t experienced this national park, you can do so for free during the days Monday, April 22 – Friday, April 26. The National Park Service and the National Park Foundation have waived all entrance fees in observance of National Park Week which is April 20 – April 28.
Can’t make it out during that span of days? Don’t fret, Active Duty Military & Families are eligible for an annual free pass! This deal is available to U.S. military members and dependents in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard and also, Reserve and National Guard members.
