Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch: A Harbinger of Good Things
March 7, 2013
Like a scene out of Heidi, the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch are a beautiful sight to see. Every March and April, the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch blossom into a spectacular sea of brightly colored ranunculus flowers. This harbinger of warmer and mere perfect weather draws more than 100,000 visitors annually.
Tours are offered, and photographers, both amateur and pro alike, set up for amazing closeup buds in bloom. Located about 30 minutes north of downtown San Diego, the drive is quick and well worth it. The 50-acres of flowers isn’t all there is to see though. The following are things you don’t want to miss as well as things to know:
- Sweet pea maze
- Wagon ride
- Rose and theme gardens
- Sluice mining
- Weekend events included with admission
- Armstrong Garden Center on-site
- Free parking and restroom facilities
While you’re there you might as well take advantage of the picnic tables available on site, right? Pack a lunch and the family, and enjoy the weather and breathtaking scenery!
