Julian, A Small Town Getaway Just An Hour Away
November 14, 2012
Nestled in the Cuyamaca Mountains just over an hour’s drive from San Diego is a small “old-fashioned” town noted for its apple pies and embedding memorable experiences in each one of its visitors. This town is Julian, and this time of year it’s particularly nice to visit with its crisp mountain air, hiking if so desired, and many, small shops to explore.
Julian is currently decorated for the holidays, as well as hosting a near month long Town Hall Crafters’ Fall Arts & Craft Show through November 25th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. And in the likeness of an iceberg, that’s “just the tip” of the events taking place in this tiny, mountain town.
Step back in time to the 1870s with a stop in Julian, pick up a free map at the Chamber of Commerce for a self-guided walking tour of the area’s historic sites. Or you can really “regress” and hop in a horse-drawn carriage for an afternoon of fun–the choice is yours!
So, get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and make a visit to Julian; population 1,502. Did I mention they’re known for their apple pie?
